Wrapping Up National Bike Month!

National Bike Month was a huge success here at Alamo Commutes, and we couldn’t be more excited to recognize the commitment and enthusiasm our community brought to the challenge! From daily bike rides to mindful commutes, this month proved that sustainable travel can be fun, healthy, and rewarding. Thanks to everyone who participated in Bike Month! - How long have you been cycling as a mode of transportation?
- I have been riding my bike (with the help of the nice VIA bus for long distances to get around San Antonio for almost 15 years.
- If you didn’t cycle before, what motivated you to make the switch?
- It began because I didn't have a car! And the main reasons I've kept at it are my views of environmental safety and saving some money on car fuel.
- What do you enjoy the most about cycling as a mode of transportation?
- My favorite part of using my bike is being outside and feeling all of nature around me - the sun (or moon) above me, the wind, and passing animals and other people.
- What do you most enjoy about the Alamo Commutes app or website?
- A friend who worked on bike repairs told me about the Alamo Commutes webpage. I found it really sweet that there was a group that supported those who could not, or chose not, get around with a car. And you also have a bunch of rewards for doing it. Thanks!

- I began cycling 2 years ago. What motivated me was my savings. The cost of auto insurance, car payment, registration and everything that has to do with being a car owner.
- What do you enjoy the most about cycling as a mode of transportation?
- What I enjoy the most about cycling as a mode of transportation is my alone time. I feel lighter mentally and I get to stay physically in shape.

- I enjoy everything about the Alamo Commutes App.

- How long have you been cycling as a mode of transportation?
- For more than 30 years. It is a fun exercise. I ride in my neighborhood, to friends’ houses in the nearby neighborhoods, and ride to the nearby stores.
- If you didn’t cycle before, what motivated you to make the switch?
- I walk and bike as part of my exercise routine. It keeps me fit and happy. I enjoy nature while riding in the park and riding to the nearby stores, which saves me gas money.
- What do you enjoy the most about cycling as a mode of transportation?
- I enjoy nature while riding in the park.
- What do you most enjoy about the Alamo Commutes app or website?
- The Alamo Commutes mission of sustainable commuting to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Everyone should do their part to save the earth. I enjoy the opportunity to earn incentives and rewards by participating in the program. I get great satisfaction for doing my part for the community by avoiding greenhouse gases.

- For 4 years, right after Covid I bought a trailer for my kids, and we biked to preschool.
- If you didn’t cycle before, what motivated you to make the switch?
- Covid. It just seemed fun to bike.
- What do you enjoy the most about cycling as a mode of transportation?
- I get to see life from a different angle, and I am more connected with the city. I see things at 10 mph.
- What do you most enjoy about the Alamo Commutes app or website?
- Logging my miles and seeing how much difference I am making.
